The Pilgrim path between Falköping and Varnhem is 43,7 kilometers and it streches over the hill Mösseberg, right next to out hotel. The whole path takes about 14.5 hours to walk and it can be split into three day stages. Along the path you will pass to medieval monasteries, Gudhem and Varnhem, and on a hill right next to Varnhem monastery, you will also find Kata gård, one of Sweden's oldest preserved churches. Do not miss out on visiting Ekornavallen, which is a remarkable archaeological site, with remains of graves from the three main eras of the prehistoric period.
There’s a lot to discover along the trail, including one of Europe’s most important bird areas, Lake Hornborga, where the thousands of dancing cranes arriving every year is an amazing spectacle. At the Hornborga Visitor Centre you can visit an exhibition about the fascinating crane dance, and learn more about the birds in the area.
Here are some more advice on things to see along the Pilgrim path:
Löfwing´s Studio and Restaurant: Visit the Art Studio and be impressed by Göran Löfwing´s beautiful painting inspired by the nature, and try some of their home made pasteries.
Ceasarstugan: Yet another nice stop along the way for a coffee break of for some lunch or dinner. Here you can also se the exhibition "The year of the farmer", which displays Swedish farmers’ life and work as it was before the arrival of tractors.
